Highly strategic transaction enhances Camin’s ability to meet client needs on both sides of Atlantic

HOUSTON, TEXAS and ANTWERP, BELGIUM – July 13, 2018 – Camin Cargo Control, Inc., (“Camin” or “Camin Cargo”) today announced its acquisition of Belgium-based MIOS (Marine Inspection Operating Services), a leading testing, inspection, laboratory and additive provider in Antwerp, Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

“The MIOS acquisition demonstrates Camin’s commitment to disciplined growth with its initial expansion into the European market, a priority for 2018. This transaction allows Camin to better address the increasingly diverse needs of its existing global client base, and provides an even stronger strategic platform to introduce its best-in-class service model to new customers," said John Hodson, Chief Executive Officer for Camin Cargo.

MIOS operates in the ARA (Antwerp-Rotterdam-Amsterdam) Region, the largest Petroleum supply and trading region in the world, and has experienced its own rapid growth since its creation in 2012. The company diversified from a Marine Fuel and Distillate focus to a wider ranging inspection, laboratory and additive service in 2015, with offices in the ports of Antwerp and Rotterdam.

This transaction offers significant synergies and brings together two high-growth companies that operate in highly complementary markets. Camin and MIOS share similar corporate values rooted in family businesses and have the cultural and strategic aspirations to continue to grow the Camin brand and business.

“This combination creates a stronger company that will build on the respective reputations of Camin Cargo Control and MIOS for delivering exceptional quality service to customers,” said Joeri Geurts, Managing Director for MIOS, who will lead the ARA business in Europe. “Together, we will strengthen our offerings in end-to-end inspection, custody transfer testing and more.”

MIOS brings further support to Camin’s capabilities, including recognized world class expertise in vessel loading, gauging and sampling, tank-to-tank transfers, bunker surveys, inventories and rail car inspections and samplings. Additionally, MIOS’ two premier testing facilities and laboratories in Antwerp and Rotterdam offer comprehensive testing services for fuel oil, biodiesel, crude oil, ultra-low sulfur diesel and alkylates to ensure clients comply with ASTM, ISO, IP and other internationally recognized petroleum testing methods. With MIOS, Camin now has more than 50 offices across three continents and continues to solidify its standing as one of the preeminent petroleum testing and inspection companies in the world.

Said Hodson, “Camin continues to further its international growth strategy in an industry which is truly global in its supply and trading patterns. MIOS is well respected in the industry and has strong relationships locally, and we look forward to working with MIOS’s talented people to deliver high levels of service to their international customer base.”
